Between fashion week, a newly opened and super crowded Vermeer exhibition at the Louvre, and Drake in town, we are totally confident that you can find some worthwhile events in Paris the week of March 12th through the 19th.

Below are our top five choices:

1. Fashion week: though fashion week shows and their locations are no longer published online and are invitation only, you are very likely to encounter some well-dressed and also oddly-dressed people this week in Paris especially in the 1st, 2nd, 8th, and 16th arrondissements.

2. Vermeer at the Louvre – the Dutch are a very, very special people (have you ever been to Amsterdam?), and thus Vermeer is also a very special. Johannes (aka Jan) Vermeer happened to be a Dutch painter who captivated the world with his small repertoire of delightful paintings juxtaposing simple quotidian scenes with lavish attention to light and color. Though little is known about the painter’s personal life (which adds to the mystery of it all), Vermeer was also once of the most forged artists beloved by the Nazis (for this, we recommend the book The Forger’s Spell by Edward Dolnick), a grand slam of his works (along with other peers of the period) are exhibiting at the Louvre right now, titled “Vermeer et les maîtres de la peinture de genre”. The exhibition just opened in late February and runs through May 22nd. We recommend you go now, just not when we go, so we have more time with these works.

3. For those seeking a bit of French counterculture (you’re the ones listening to Billy Idol on the number 82 bus heading out of the 16th, we know you because we are you), allez, allez, and allez à la Maison Rouge in the 12h for the exhibition titled “L’Esprit Français Contre-Cultures, 1969-1989′ featuring over sixty artists and seven hundred pieces focusing on sex and violence and maybe some other stuff just as interesting.

4. If it’s too cold for you to leave the indoors and find yourself taking the RER B (which will probably be late) to fly out to Venice or you missed the famous carnival in February, don’t worry – Venice is coming to you at the Musée Cognacq-Jay for the exhibition “Sérénissime! Venise en fête, de Tiepolo à Guardi”. The exhibition focusing on 18th-century art from, about, and in Venice began in late February and runs through late June. An added bonus is the absolute lack of tourists at this museum, though we cannot guarantee you will not be annoyed by a rather aggressively posturing retiree crowd.

5. Drake – AccorHotels Arena – Our favorite contemporary philosopher, Drake, is returning to Paris on Sunday, March 12th (which is today, in case you forgot), Along with being a consistently reliable good time (unlike the Frenchmen you’ll meet on Tinder), Drake will charm you and stick around to also be singing about the anonymous good girl who knows it but remains so bad around him.
