Tsugi – your new French music guide

Paris is well-known for its art and architecture as well as for being one of the most important fashion capitals. But what about music? Is there anything music lovers can find for themselves in the great City of Lights? The answer is: yes, of course, and the best way to discover the French music scene is Tsugi.

Tsugi is an independent French music magazine founded in 2007. The word tsugi (次) itself means ‘next’ in Japanese. This title refers to its theme which is looking out for the next trends in electronic music, rap, hip hop, and rock. It also covers social phenomena linked to music (clubbing culture, iconic festivals et cetera).

The best part is that Tsugi comes in various “shapes and sizes”. It’s not only a magazine you can buy at the nearest kiosque. If you don’t have much time for lecture or you’re just not such a music geek, there is always a website that will navigate you through actual trends and events in France. With Tsugi as your guide, you will never miss out on anything (which is really important as many concerts get sold out very quickly!).

Even if your French is not that great you can still find something for yourself. When it comes to discovering the hidden gems of independent music, Tsugi Podcast is irreplaceable. And last but not least, the website offers a free Tsugi Radio that will fill your ears with delightful sounds 24/7. If you want to set the mood without having to deal with annoying Spotify ads, Tsugi comes to the rescue!
