Paris is the city of love – no doubt about that. Some of us can’t resist its charm what sooner or later results in falling under the spell of French men. They are fluent in the art of seduction and love to use it. While some of them resemble well-known bourgeois bohème, such as Serge Gainsbourgothers prefer more niche lifestyles. Yet, there are several traits French men have in common that make us endlessly adore them as well as choose them as lifelong partners in crime.

1. Their moves are full of panache

Being French is not just a nationality – it’s a way of living. Prominent cultural and historical background implemented French people with innate high confidence, and they aren’t afraid to show it. They know they are les Français so everything they do must be magnificent. French men embraced this rule and love to express that with their flawless moves. It doesn’t matter if they dance, sit, drink a beer or light a cigarette, every single twitch of their body is full of characteristic elegance and laidback at the same time. Confidence is the core of the French mentality, and French men are its great ambassadors.

2. They are natural-born food lovers

French cuisine is renowned across the world for being refined and delicious. Cooking is a big deal in France. No wonder why the French invented the Michelin Guide rating the best restaurants in the world. Of course, it doesn’t surprise anyone that food is something fundamental in their lives. Naturally, French men know how to dine well, and they won’t hesitate to throw away half of your fridge content as only high-quality ingredients can satisfy their demanding palates. They were raised surrounded by all kinds of cheese and wine, so they know pretty much about it. They can tell you it’s not true (it’s just a “basic” knowledge), but try offending their brie, and you will have to be ready for a harsh one-hour tirade.

3. They know how to dress

Nobody knows better than the French that fine feathers make fine birds. In France, everything has to be à la mode, and men are no exception. This is true especially in Paris, where even a simple thing such as taking out the trash is a public matter. The French grow up being watched by their compatriots whose judgment is nearly as significant as Anna Wintour’s opinion. With Paris being the capital of the most notable fashion houses in the world, stakes are probably even higher. It’s easy to understand why French men had to master their way to rock an effortless look that would be manly yet impeccably stylish. Not only are they well dressed, but they also know how to take good care of their skin. Don’t be shocked when you find out that your partner’s daily beauty routine isn’t just a quick shower, and his collection of beauty products is way more abundant than yours. French boyfriend (or husband) will never disappoint you in times of need like a night at a theater, family dinner, or night out at a bar with friends.

4. Intelligence is everything

The French grow up fully aware of their cultural heritage. With so many great artists, writers, scientists, and philosophers, it’s crystal clear the bar of expectations is set pretty high. They put a lot of stress on intellectual endeavors such as reading, discussions, and going to museums, which is why French men are not as judgmental about appearance as they are about the brain. When they pick their apartment, they always evaluate it by its capacity to store books. They can’t live without engaging, riveting discussions just like they can’t exist without freshly baked baguettes. There is no better idea for a date with a French man than a visit to an art gallery or cinema, followed by a passionate debate in a cafe.

5. They speak French

Most of us fell in love with French before we even came to this country, so obviously, hearing this language being spoken by natives makes us drool more than macarons. Once you start dating a French man, you get unlimited access to irreproachable French pronunciation (not to mention a handsome French teacher available 24/7). Ordering a simple brioche at a bakery, having dinner, catching up with friends, and other everyday things we do. Besides, you can always ask how to say croissant or l’administration française correctly. Even though one gives you delightful frisson and another makes your blood run cold, they both sound amazing in the language of love (rightfully called so). Ordinary life gets better when it’s narrated in French, and who’s better to make it happen than our French garçons?
