As the countdown to Christmas begins, the festive mood in Paris is in full swing. Streets are abundantly decorated with lights, Christmas markets are open to the public and full of Christmas cheer. Even low temperature can’t compete with this joyful atmosphere around the most wonderful time of the year. Since Paris is bursting with exciting events, we want to share not only the Christmas spirit but also our favorite events this month.

1. Christmas market in the Tuileries Garden

Is there anything that brings the festive mood better than Christmas markets? The answer is: of course not. Even though it is apparent that Parisian Christmas markets can’t compete with those in Colmar or Strasbourg, Paris has something to offer as well. Our pick is the one located at the famous Tuileries Garden right in the heart of the City of Lights. The largest Marché de Noël is running from late November until the 5th of January. Apart from having a glass of mulled wine and some raclette, you can buy some local products or souvenirs and try some French cuisine at one of the restaurants. At this Christmas market, you can also find a wide variety of attractions, including an ice rink and a giant Ferris wheel, from which you can admire the beautiful panorama of Paris.

2. Christmas at the Château de Vaux-le-Vicomte

If you are not a huge fan of loud and crowded places, you can immerse yourself in a fairytale-like experience at the Château de Vaux-le-Vicomte. This marvelous castle built in the 17th century turns into a Christmas wonderland. Until the 5th of January, the majestic château de Vaux-le-Vicomte enchants its visitors with unique and lavish Christmas decorations. Each chamber is adorned with a plethora of lights, decorated trees, and extravagantly ornate Christmas settings. This year, for the first time, a special 8-minute video mapping show will be displayed on the facade of the castle every 30 minutes after nightfall.

3. Mi-Livre Mi-Raisin

Is there a better combination than a good book accompanied by a glass of wine? We think not, and so do Parisians! This year La Bellevilloise will hold the first edition of Mi-Livre Mi-Raisin – an extraordinary event that combines both a wine tasting and a book fair. The event will be running on the 14th and 15th of December. During these two days, you will be able to try wines from 30 different producers as well as discover 30 independent French publishers and meet about 50 authors. Not only but also, various debates, meetings, and animations revolving around wine and books will also take place as part of Mi-Raisin Mi-Livre. Wine-loving bookworms of Paris, unite!

4. Vini di Vignaioli

This year’s Christmas season, Parisian wine lovers are blessed with an enormous number of wine-related events. Since it’s impossible to attend them all, we decided to cherry-pick the best ones, and our December favorite is upcoming Vini di Vignaioli. As you probably already assumed, this one time, French wines will have to make some space for their rivals from abroad. Vini di Vignaioli is the biggest wine fair dedicated to Italian wines happening on the 15th of December at Espace Charenton. The only thing we have to say? Mamma mia!

5. Nordic Christmas Market

If your Christmas-craving spirit doesn’t feel satisfied, don’t worry because our list is not over yet. Or, if you are fed up with traditional Christmas markets and looking for something offbeat, we’ve found the perfect one to meet your taste – a Scandinavian-themed Christmas Market. Le Marché de Noël Nordique will be running on the 14th and 15th of December at La Cité Fertile. Come to try nordic cuisine accompanied by a cup of traditional gløgg (mulled wine with spices), and surprise your family and friends with unique Christmas presents straight from Scandinavia.
