A year ago, when Paris Fashion Week was ending, no one could have foreseen how much the pandemic would affect the fashion industry. Although the most anticipated fashion event had to become virtual, it doesn’t lose its well-known splendor. The latest trends dazzle no less than those of previous seasons, and we couldn’t help but tell you all about our favorite ones.

Givenchy

This season Givenchy clearly aims at combining winter clothes with its characteristic extravagant refinement. Sweaters intertwined with furry coats, hats, and giant mittens, adorned with small gems or elegant patterns, dominated the show. Stylish transparent mesh and knitted dresses also sashayed on the runway to emphasize the collection’s sensual side. Conspicuous accessories like supersized gilded Cuban chains and hoof-like boots added an extra flair. By juxtaposing seemingly mismatched elements, Givenchy showcased sartorial excellence.

Balmain

Since traveling is not an option in the real world, Olivier Rousteing lets us escape with his new aviation-inspired collection. Olive green military-like and hazmat cuts paired up with eye-catching boots resembling those worn by astronauts, followed by timeless classics like Breton striped sweaters and futuristic metallic coats and jackets. As always, Rousteing played with colors. This time by adding subtle fluorescent and transparent accents to the outfits. All of that embellished with eccentric accessories like wide square sunglasses, puffy earrings, and round cosmic bags. Without a doubt, with the new collection, Balmain has taken fashion to a higher altitude.

Lanvin

The newest Lanvin’s collection throws down the gauntlet to life under lockdown. The digital show comes as an alternate music video for old but gold Gwen Stefani’s Rich Girl. It shows a group of friends throwing a lavish shopping spree party in the luxurious Shangri-La Hotel in Paris. During the sumptuous celebration, we can observe a myriad of exquisite outfits Lanvin has to offer this season. Flamboyant feathers, plaid fabrics, and animal prints parading alongside light, satin dresses. All of that gussied up with fancy accessories like showy flower-shaped chokers or wide, classy belts. It seems almost controversial to choose such a theme for a fashion show, but Lanvin revives the dream of having all the money in the world with finesse.
