Ah, the northeastern side of Paris. Whenever we hear snickers about our life as expatriates missing out if we happen to live in certain arrondissements that are not there, certain images of the city’s other side come to mind. The concrete. The bobos. The concrete. That one taco place. The canals. The smell near the canals. The craft ice cream shop. The concrete. The craft coffee shop. The bobos standing in line at the craft pizza shop. The sign announcing the opening of the craft ‘craft’ shop. Yet there is one craft place to rule them all, and it is the craft beer place. We are, of course, talking about Paname Brewing Company. PBC was originally introduced to one of our team members when she was far too young to know better the tricks of the sly Frenchman suffering the malaise of an early onset midlife crisis and its accompanying routine male pattern baldness. You go to Paname Brewing Company because that place rocks – the craft beer brewed in house packs a kick and is reasonably priced, the staff are absolute sweethearts and their smiles in Paris are like catching Mew2 while playing Pokemon Go (if anyone plays that anymore), and that view in front of the Canal de l’Ourcq. Damn. That view! If anything, we regret sharing this space further with this post as getting to the 19th arrondissement is normally a 40 minute metro ride, mais c’est pas grave. On y vas. Just don’t forget that Parisians are equally as aggressive about taking up chairs as they are of good views of art at museums, and come early on busy evenings.
