It’s all over for another season girls but what a season it was! Let’s look at our 3 favorite French designers from PFW and the trends they’re setting for Spring/Summer 18.

Saint Laurent

Of course, first on our top three list has got to be Saint Laurent. Not only was the collection absolutely stellar, drawing upon the story of Paris and nods to the rich history of the brand but the whole runway was staged with a backdrop of the Eiffel Tower. A truly spectacular location, the tower sparked in the background letting the world know immediately that this was Paris Fashion Week. Oxblood leather pieces walked alongside ostrich feathers, puffy dresses and glitter jackets. The collection screamed life and vitality, a bold statement that was exciting to watch and just a little provocative. The only problem? Saint Laurent not only set the bar high for other designers but also for themselves! We’ll expect nothing less next season!

Christian Dior

Dior is renowned for the new look and it seems they’re trying to reinvent themselves again. This year was decidedly very not Dior-esque and instead plays to the attention of millennial’s. A much more youthful and futuristic collection of denim, tulle tutus and visors came stomping down the runway, a far cry from the floaty dresses and pastel suits we’re used to seeing from Dior. While it’s not what we’re used to, we can’t be afraid of change and for some reason this eclectic mix just works. We can see these pieces as separates, easily slotting into the closets of every Parisian, especially in the more boho arrondissements, giving Dior a new market!

Balmain

Balmain has hit the nail on the head once more. We’re never disappointed by the creations from this iconic French fashion house. Movement restriction was a key theme to the collection, with models embalmed in printed plastic and structural organza. Playing in timeless Parisian colors of black, white and grays, Balmain allowed necklines to dramatically plunge and transparents to bare all.
