Music, art, films, some more music, some more art, it’s summer in Paris and the culture keeps rolling in. And voila, here are our picks for ten events in Paris this musical month that you should check out:

  1. Paris Jazz Festival – the name speaks for itself, as the Paris Jazz Festival running from June 17th through July 30th at the Parc Floral de Paris, Route de la Pyramide. There’s really no excuse for you not to go considering that the admission fee is a whopping 2.50 euros.
  2. Derain, Balthus and Giacometti meet again at the modern art museum from June 2nd on for a new exhibition about these 20th century art titans and their connections.
  3. Fete de la Musique – On June 21st, which is the day of the summer solstice (read: it’s officially summer now) and thus the city of Paris decides to celebrate with a night full of music tout la journee in every arrondissement (and has been doing so since 1982). Most events are free until a certain time, so be sure to take a look online before heading out.
  4. Flights to Los Angeles all sold out? Yearning to see a lineup of movies and new cinema but can’t cross the Atlantic? The 6th edition of the Champs-Elysées music festival is on the way to alleviate your anxieties and maybe get you to encounter an auteur along the way.
  5. Flights to Barcelona all sold out? Madrid too? Damn, your luck is keeping you in Paris this summer, perhaps in order to encourage you to head out to the exhibition titled ‘Clothes in Spanish tones’ at Maison de Victor Hugo from running from June 21st through the end of September. As a bonus, you’ll get to see the only house Victor Hugo was able to buy with his writer fame and wages.
